Slowly...slowly...

Still waiting to see some progress, looks like they are laying some formwork in the West wise of the miniramp section but still no action to the other transition. If anyone goes past this weekend can they get a pic and send it in to me.

The Re-Pour Will Come

Had a meeting at De La Salle today with Council members, they are meeting on Monday again with Oasis and the contractors to finalise what they think should be fixed and how/who will do it. They agree it sucked at it was so while the demolition is going slow, they will be preparing a report after Monday's meeting to go to the Director for consideration. If all goes well, they will demo the whole mini ramp and Oasis will come down to re-pour and supervise the whole job. Official opening date still in October. While I was there they had to get rid of quite a few skaters/lurkers but they let me have a roll and go over a few points. They are also looking at some better landscaping than just grass and will most likely be putting pavers around the edges of the park and a few barriers to stop boards flying out on the the public walkway.

I can see some great potential if the trannies are done right, we'll have to wait and see. They have our details/e-mail etc. and I said we want to be involved in ALL future parks built on the Coast. There are some funds allocated to another park but not enough yet to get one off the ground so there is hope but we are going to have to push pretty hard to get a nice big bowl built. They aren't too keen on that as it only caters for experienced riders and then all of the San Remo problems with vandals and maintenance etc. are in the back of their minds.

Overall impression of mini-ramp: stuffed now but could be great if they re-pour it right. The roll-ins/out on each end are too wide, it cuts down the width of the skateable area too much when you only need a roll out to be a couple of feet wide max.

Street section is cramped !! The hubbas and rail are quite high and you really have very little time to set up an ollie off the bank before your front wheels are rolling over the top, will take quite a good skater to master it. We'll see how it turns out in a month or so but I'd give it a
2.5/5 if the mini section turns out great.

Here we go, here we go...

NACCOS is here. Bear with us as we get going, the main reason for this blog is to post everything and anything to do with NACCOS events, advocacy and skateboarding in general. As we get better at using this blogging thing, there will surely be more action on here like pictures, event flyers, new parks etc....

The first thing we are doing is putting in some recommendations to Gosford Council on the new park in Kincumber. It's called De La Salle Recreation Area officially and we've all seen how badly it was built (on forum posts or in person), especially the transition area. We'll be meeting with them soon to discuss our concerns about how it should be done, we hope to get a good result and build a relationship with Council so that we can be involved in future skate park planning.

Cheers and go skate !!!
